Spoofing an iconic video
Take your mind back to 2013, the world was playing Flappy Birds and Van Damme was doing the most epic splits between two Volvo trucks to demonstrate the stability of the trucks. It instantly went viral and literally everyone, even my nan, was talking about it.
So, whilst a creative at Ogilvy Dubai, and Volkswagen as a client, we decided to jump on this moment… and create our own spoof.
Within 24 hours, we had a Van Damme mask in hand, a very flexible man and a 5am shoot in the dessert.
Whilst we didn’t quite reach Volvo virality, 130,000 views in the first month wasn’t a bad result for our client.
